Mr.Cameron Fox: ผมมองว่า ยุคนี้เป็นยุคที่จะได้เจอและแก้ปัญหาแปลกๆใหม่ๆที่ไม่เคยมีมาก่อนอยู่ตลอดเวลา เพราะฉะนั้น ทักษะที่จำเป็นที่เด็ก หรือ คนในยุคนี้ควรมี ที่สำคัญเลยคือ
- การมองโลกในเชิงบวก เมื่อพบเจอปัญหา เด็กต้องมองบวก ทุกปัญหาแก้ไขได้ ไม่หมดกำลังใจที่จะหาวิธีแก้ปัญหานั้นๆ
- ทักษะแห่งการวิเคราะห์และแก้ไขปัญหาในเชิงสร้างสรรค์ เมื่อเจอปัญหาแล้ว เด็กๆควรจะรู้จักการวิเคราะห์ปัญหาและมองหาทางออก ด้วยวิธีที่สร้างสรรค์ โดยเฉพาะหากนำหลักกระบวนความคิดแบบ Design Thinking มาใช้ จะสามารถช่วยได้มาก
- การทำงานร่วมกันและรู้จักสื่อสารกับผู้อื่น แน่นอนว่าในชีวิตจริงนั้น มนุษย์ไม่สามารถอยู่คนเดียวได้ การสร้างสรรค์ผลงานต่างๆ หากได้ทำร่วมกันเป็นทีม ย่อมที่จะสร้างสรรค์ผลงานที่ยิ่งใหญ่และมีประโยชน์ต่อประเทศและโลกได้ เพราะฉะนั้น เด็กๆต้องรู้จัก การทำงานร่วมกันเป็นทีม และ สื่อสารกับผู้อื่นอย่างดี
ลงทุนมัม: โรงเรียนแห่งอนาคตในความคิดของ VERSO คืออะไร? แล้วแตกต่างจากโรงเรียนในปัจจุบันอย่างไร?
Mr.Cameron Fox: จะเห็นว่าใน ทุกวันนี้ หลายๆอย่างถูกออกแบบมาค่อนข้างเฉพาะเจาะจง ไม่ได้ออกแบบแบบ one-size-fits-all เหมือนสมัยก่อน เพราะทุกสิ่งทุกอย่าง ไม่ได้เหมาะสมกับทุกๆคนเสมอไป โรงเรียนก็เช่นกัน ไม่ใช่การสอนแบบใดแบบหนึ่งจะเหมาะกับเด็กทุกคน เพราะฉะนั้น ผมคิดว่า โรงเรียนแห่งอนาคต ควรจะเป็นโรงเรียนที่สามารถที่จะ Personalizes การเรียนรู้ของเด็กแต่ละคนตามความเหมาะสมได้ การทำเช่นนี้ถึงจะทำให้สามารถดึงศักยภาพของเด็กออกมาได้สูงที่สุดครับ
ลงทุนมัม: ช่วยเล่าให้ฟังหน่อยค่ะว่า การเรียนการสอนแบบ Project based learning และ สหวิทยาการ (Interdisciplinary) ที่ทาง โรงเรียนนานาชาติเวอร์โซ นำมาใช้ในสอนเด็กๆมีประโยชน์อย่างไร? เพราะเป็นการสอนที่ค่อนช้างแตกต่างจากโรงเรียนนานาชาติอื่นๆ
Mr.Cameron Fox: โดยส่วนตัวแล้ว ผมมีประสบการณ์ในแวดวงการศึกษามากว่า 20 ปี เห็นได้ชัดเลยว่า การเรียนการสอนแบบเดิมที่เด็กนั่งเรียนเป็นรายวิชานั้น มันไม่สามารถตอบโจทย์โลกในยุคปัจจุบันได้ เพราะ มีเด็กหลายๆคนที่ประสบความสำเร็จมากในด้านวิชาการ สอบได้คะแนนดีโดดเด่น แต่ไม่สามารถนำมาปรับใช้ในชีวิตจริงและในการทำงานจริงได้ ซึ่งนี่คือ แนวคิดสำคัญของการ เรียนแบบ Project Based Learning (PBL)
การเรียนรู้แบบนี้ เด็กต้องดึงความรู้แขนงต่างๆที่มีนำมาใช้ในการทำ Project ต่างๆ ซึ่งนี้คือ การสอดแทรก การเรียนแบบ สหวิทยาการ ให้กับเด็กๆ และอย่างที่ได้เล่าให้ฟังในคำถามก่อน การเรียนรู้แบบ Project Based Learning นั้น ยังช่วยให้เด็กๆได้ รู้จักการทำงานร่วมกันเป็นทีม และในการทำงานร่วมกัน เด็กๆก็จะต้องมีทักษะการสื่อสารที่ดี เพื่อให้การทำงานร่วมกันนั้นราบรื่น อีกทั้ง คุณครูของ VERSO หรือที่เราเรียกกันว่า Learning Designer นั้นจะช่วยฝึกให้เด็กๆได้เรียนรู้ทั้งทักษะการวิเคราะห์ปัญหา และ แก้ปัญหา ในการทำโครงการต่างๆ ผ่านกระบวนความคิดแบบ Design Thinking ซึ่งกระบวนความคิดแบบนี้จะนำไปสู่ การแก้ปัญหาเชิงสร้างสรรค์และสร้างนวัตกรรมใหม่ๆให้กับโลกได้
ลงทุนมัม: การเรียนการสอนของ โรงเรียนนานาชาติเวอร์โซ นั้นจะมีการแบ่งกลุ่มเป็น Cohort แบบคละวัยกัน การเรียนแบบนี้จะช่วยส่งเสริมการเรียนรู้ของเด็กๆอย่างไร?
Mr.Cameron Fox: ในชีวิตจริงนั้น เมื่อเราโตขึ้น ไม่มีที่ไหนเลยที่แบ่งคนออกตามอายุ ไม่ว่าจะเป็นที่ทำงาน กลุ่มเพื่อน หรือ สังคมอื่นๆ เห็นจะมีก็แต่ในโรงเรียนเท่านั้น ซึ่งอาจจะเป็นด้วยเหตุผลของการจัดการเรียนการสอนแบบเดิม แต่ที่ โรงเรียนนานาชาติเวอร์โซ เรามองว่า การแบ่งกลุ่มการเรียนรู้ หรือ ทำ โปรเจคด้วยกันแบบ Cohort นั้นมีข้อดีมากมาย
สำหรับเด็กที่โตกว่า พี่ๆจะได้ฝึกทั้งทักษะการเป็นผู้นำ ทักษะการบริหารจัดการ อีกทั้ง การที่พี่โตได้สอนน้องนั้น นี่แหละเป็นการเรียนรู้ที่ดีที่สุดของพี่ๆ
สำหรับเด็กที่เล็กกว่า แน่นอนว่า เด็กๆเป็นวัยที่ชอบเรียนรู้และเลียนแบบ การได้ดูตัวอย่างการทำงานจริงๆของพี่ที่โตกว่านั้น จะทำให้เด็กเรียนรู้ได้ง่าย รวดเร็ว และสนุก เพราะได้ทำกิจกรรมร่วมกับเด็กวัยใกล้เคียงกัน
ลงทุนมัม: คุณครูของ VERSO หรือที่เรียกว่า Learning Designer นั้นเข้ามาช่วยในการค้นหาทักษะเด่นๆของลูกๆเราอย่างไรบ้าง?
Mr.Cameron Fox: Learning Designer นั้นมีบทบาทสำคัญมากๆในการส่งเสริมทักษะให้กับเด็กๆ เพราะจะเป็นคนที่มีความใกล้ชิดกับเด็กทุกคนเป็นอย่างมาก อีกทั้งยังเป็นคนที่จะช่วยออกแบบการเรียนรู้ให้กับเด็กแต่ละคน (Personalized Learning) ด้วย ในทุกๆวัน เด็กจะมีเวลาพูดคุยกับ Learning Designer แบบ 1 ต่อ 1 ที่เรียกว่า conVERSO ซึ่งเวลานี้ จะเป็นเวลาที่ เด็กจะได้ พูดคุย แลกเปลี่ยนและ ปรึกษาปัญหาต่างๆ ทั้งในแง่ของ การทำโปรเจค การเรียนรู้ในวิชาต่างๆ หรือแม้กระทั่ง ความฝันที่อยากจะเป็นในการอนาคต และ Learning Designer นี่แหละ ที่จะเป็นคนช่วย guide หรือ นำทาง ดึงทักษะเด่นๆที่เด็กมี เพื่อให้เด็กๆไปให้ถึงความฝันที่มีได้
ลงทุนมัม: ตอนที่ “ลงทุนมัม” เดินเข้ามาในบริเวณโรงเรียนสังเกตุว่า ห้องเรียนของ VERSO เป็นห้องเรียนแบบที่ไม่มีผนัง ไม่กั้นเป็นห้อง รวมถึงอาคารเรียนก็มีลักษณะเป็นวงกลม แปลกตาไม่เหมือนโรงเรียนทั่วๆไป ทำไมถึงเป็นแบบนี้คะ?
Mr.Cameron Fox: ที่ VERSO เราอยากให้เด็กๆได้มีพื้นที่การเรียนรู้แบบอิสระ ไม่ได้ปิดกันแค่ห้องสี่เหลี่ยม เด็กๆจะได้มีพื้นที่กว้างๆ ในการเรียน การทำโปรเจค อีกทั้ง ห้องเรียนและพื้นที่ต่างๆของโรงเรียน ยังสามารถจะดัดแปลงให้เป็นที่แสดงผลงาน Project ต่างๆของเด็กได้
ไอเดียนี้ ได้แรงบันดาลใจมาจาก ในช่วงที่เราออกแบบหลักสูตร เราได้เดินทางไปทั่วโลก เพื่อดู โรงเรียนแห่งนวัตกรรมมากมาย และ เราอยากให้ ทุกพื้นที่ใน โรงเรียนนานาชาติเวอร์โซ นั้น เป็นเหมือนแหล่งแสดงผลงานต่างๆ อันน่าภาคภูมิใจของเด็กๆ
ลงทุนมัม: ถ้าเปรียบ VERSO เหมือนบ้าน บ้านแบบ VERSO มีลักษณะเป็นอย่างไร
Mr.Cameron Fox: แน่นอนว่า โรงเรียนนานาชาติเวอร์โซ นั้นเป็นบ้านที่ประกอบด้วย 2 ส่วน คือ Hardware และ Software ในส่วน Hardware นั้นก็คือ สิ่งปลูกสร้าง อาคาร และ Facility ต่างๆของโรงเรียน ที่มีโครงสร้างที่แข็งแรง มั่นคง มีความสวยงาม และแฝงไปด้วยไอเดียความคิดสร้างๆต่างๆ พร้อมให้เด็กๆได้ใช้ในการเรียนรู้กันอย่างสนุกสนาน แต่สิ่งสำคัญของบ้านหลังนี้ ไม่ได้มีเพียงแค่อาคารที่เพียบพร้อมเท่านั้น แต่ยังมีส่วนสำคัญอีกส่วนหนึ่ง ซึ่งก็คือ Software ที่เป็นหัวใจของการเรียนการสอนทักษะต่างๆที่จะช่วยปลูกฝังให้เด็กๆ เป็นเด็กที่เติบโตขึ้นเป็นผู้ใหญ่ที่มีความพร้อมที่ไม่ว่าจะปัญหาอะไร ก็จะสามารถหาวิธีแก้ไขปัญหาอย่างสร้างสรรค์ และอยู่ในสังคมได้อย่างมีความสุข
ลงทุนมัม: เด็กของ VERSO จะเป็นเด็กที่มี character อย่างไร จุดเด่นคืออะไร?
Mr.Cameron Fox: ด้วยหลักการสอนในแบบของ VERSO เด็กของเราจะถูกหล่อหลอมให้เป็นคนที่รู้จักตัวเอง รู้ว่าตัวเองมีจุดเด่นด้านไหน เติบโตไปด้วยความมั่นใจ และสามารถที่จะ connect กับคนทั่วโลก เพื่อสร้างสรรค์สิ่งดีๆให้กับโลกนี้ได้ไม่ว่าจะไปอยู่ที่ใด
ลงทุนมัม: เรามีวิธีอย่างไรที่จะทำให้ เด็กๆรักการเรียนรู้ได้ตลอดชีวิต?
Mr.Cameron Fox: ก่อนอื่นเลย ต้องรู้ก่อนว่า ทำไม เด็กถึงไม่ชอบที่จะเรียนรู้ หรือไม่อยากที่จะเรียนรู้ ซึ่งจากประสบการณ์ของผม อย่างแรกผมมองว่า เด็กจะไม่อยากเรียนรู้ ในส่ิงที่ เด็กไม่สนใจ เพราะมันน่าเบื่อสำหรับเค้า
อย่างที่สองคือ เด็กหมดกำลังใจในการเรียนรู้ เพราะมักจะโดนเปรียบเทียบกับคนอื่นที่เก่งกว่า
ซึ่งปัญหาทั้งสองข้อนี้ เป็นปัญหาในการเรียนการสอนแบบเดิมที่ เด็กทุกคนต้องเรียนตามวิชาที่กำหนดไว้ (ซึ่งบางวิชา อาจจะเป็นเรื่องที่เด็กไม่สนใจเลย) และ มีการแบ่งเกรด แข่งขัน วัดระดับกัน ซึ่งทุกวิชาจะต้องมีการเปรียบเทียบคะแนนกับคนอื่น ซึ่งถ้าเด็กทำคะแนนได้ไม่ดี เด็กก็จะหมดกำลังใจและไม่อยากเรียนในวิชานั้นๆ เพราะว่า เราทำได้ไม่ดีเท่ากับเพื่อนๆ
แต่ที่ VERSO นั้น เราจะออกแบบการเรียนรู้ให้เด็กแต่ละคน แบบ Personalized Learning โดยคำนึงถึงความชอบและความถนัดของเด็กเป็นสำคัญ ไม่มีการวัดระดับเปรียบเทียบกับเพื่อนๆคนอื่นในชั้น แต่การประเมินของเราจะเป็นการประเมินพัฒนาการของเด็กคนนั้นๆเอง ว่ามี พัฒนาการในด้านต่างๆไปได้ดีแค่ไหนในแต่ละปี ซึ่งเมื่อไม่มีการเปรียบเทียบ เด็กก็จะแข่งขันกับตัวเอง เพื่อให้ตัวเองเก่งขึ้นเรื่อยๆ และสนุกกับการเรียนรู้ไปได้ตลอดชีวิต
